Here are a number of commercial and informational web sites that may be of use to you. Most are quilt related, some are not!

Quilting at About.com is probably the most complete resource on the web for quilters. Susan Druding does an excellent job in keeping this site accurate and up to date.
The World Wide Quilting Page also has many resources for quilters.
Planet Patchwork-- An on-line magazine about quilting and includes a nice section for beginning quilters.
Quilter by Design-- Includes many patterns
Quilts Quilts Quilts.com has an extensive list of links to many other quilting sites full of information about quilting

PBS America Quilts web site
Merrilyn San Soucie describes the courses she offers as an artist in residence in the New Hampshire area on her web site
The New England Quilt Museum offers classroom kits to area groups (you can find information under the "lectures/classes/school groups" link)
Debbie Meyer has a great web page with lesson plans related to quilting
The Decorative Arts Center of Ohio offers a free-to-download booklet called Geometric Design in Ohio Quilts: An Integrated Math, Art, Social Studies and Language Arts Curriculum that has lessons that could be adapted to any state's quilt designs

Marble-T Design is a small company specializing in customized hand-marbled fabrics
Sharing Grandma's Quilt is a book that may be of interest to you when introducing quilting to children
The Day Patchville Went Splitsville is a neat interactive story on CDrom with a quilting/sewing theme
The Quilter Magazine
The Fabric Patch has a large selection of books with a quilting theme
Jenny June Fancywork carries a lovely book called The Mary Frances Sewing Book that tells a story and teaches sewing skills
Cottonwood Quilts has a number of beginner quilting kits as well as free tips for new quilters
The Quiltmaker's Gift is a wonderful picture book about quilting with a related web site
ThreadArt.com has a variety of books, fabrics and supplies for sale
